His research explores the mysterious life of clouds with the goal to advance our understanding of their role in our climate. Dr. Taylor received his Bachelor of Science in Earth Science from California University of PA in 2004, and a Master\u2019s degree and Ph. D. in Meteorology from Florida State University in 2006 and 2009. Dr. Taylor\u2019s recent work has made key advances in our understanding of the Arctic climate and how clouds are responding to diminishing Arctic sea ice. Dr. Taylor\u2019s research accomplishments have culminated in several recognitions including the 2012 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers and the 2013 NASA Early Career Award. In 2014, Dr. Taylor was appointed by Governor McAuliffe to the Virginia Climate Change and Resiliency Update Commission. In 2015, Dr. Taylor was recognized as a Kavli Frontiers of Science Fellow. In 2017, Dr. Taylor lead the development of the Arctic Chapter in the Climate Science Special Report for the US Global Climate Change Research Program. In 2019, Dr. Taylor was appointed to a 4-year term on a leadership panel of the US Climate Variability and Change Program to guide the development and implementation of strategic objectives for the Nation\u2019s climate research. Outside of science, Dr. Taylor enjoys spending time with family, playing sports, and working out.
